The
next big event/fundraiser on the schedule is the annual Dream
weekend auction at Eldora Speedway. 100% of the money brought
in from the auction goes straight to the benevolent fund. Here
are the details on the event:

TIME: Doors open at 12:00 pm, Auction starts at 12:30 pm
LOCATION: Eldora Ballroom (on property of Speedway)

ARTICLE
I – NAME AND PURPOSE
Section 1:
The name of the organization shall be Midwest Auto Racing Charities.
It shall be a
nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Ohio
Section 2:
Midwest Auto Racing Charities is organized exclusively for charitable
and educational
purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
Code. More
specifically, the purpose of Midwest Auto Racing Charities is to provide
financial assistance
to drivers, crew members, racing officials and/or track personnel who
are injured in racing
accidents. The primary areas of consideration are drivers that compete,
or have competed,
at Eldora Speedway, Limaland Motorsports Park and/or Waynesfield Motor
Sports Park;
however there are no specific geographic boundaries. Assistance will
be considered on
a financial needs basis.
ARTICLE II – MEMBERSHIP
Section 1:
Membership in Midwest Auto Racing Charities shall be open to any person
or organization
that has an interest in auto racing.
Section 2:
Membership dues shall be $10 per calendar year, unless changed by a
majority vote of
the attending members at the Annual Meeting.
ARTICLE III – MEETINGS
Section 1:
Regular meetings of the members shall be held on the second Tuesday
of every calendar
month from February through December, at a time and location as announced
at the
annual meeting.
Section 2:
An Annual Meeting shall be held on the second Tuesday of January. The
specific date,
time and location of the Annual Meeting will be designated by the chair.
At the Annual
Meeting, the members shall elect officers, receive reports on the activities
of the corporation
and determine the direction of the corporation for the coming year.
Section 3:
All issues to be voted on shall be decided by a simple majority of those
present at the
meeting in which the vote takes place.
ARTICLE IV – BOARD OF DIRECTORS and OFFICERS
Section 1:
The Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of Midwest
Auto Racing Charities;
however, the Board is authorized to delegate responsibility of the operation
of the organization
to a staff of elected officers. The board and/or officers shall receive
no compensation.
Section 2:
The Board shall have 5 (five) members, with terms of 3 (three) years.
Terms shall be
staggered in such a manner that no more than 2 (two) terms expire in
any one year. There
are no term limits, Board members may serve an unlimited number of successive
terms.
Expiring terms are filled by election with a simple majority of members
present at the Annual
meeting.
Section 3:
There shall be 4 (four) officers of Midwest Auto Racing Charities, to
conduct regular meetings
under policy and direction established by the Board of Directors. The
officers must be members
of Midwest Auto Racing Charities, and shall consist of:
a. President (which must be a member of the Board of Directors)
b. Vice-President
c. Secretary
d. Treasurer
Their duties are as follows:
a. President – convene and preside over regular meetings
b. Vice-President – preside over regular meetings in the absence
of the President, chair
special committees
c. Secretary – responsible for keeping records and taking minutes
at all regular meetings,
sending out meeting announcements, distributing copies of minutes and
assuring that
corporate records are maintained.
d. Treasurer – make a report at each regular meeting with financial
records and transactions.
The officers will serve one-year terms and are elected by simple majority
vote at the Annual
Meeting. Officers may serve successive terms. All positions must be
filled individually, one
member may not hold more than one position.
ARTICLE V – AMENDMENTS
Section 1:
These by-laws may be altered, amended, repealed or added to by two-thirds
majority of
the Board of Directors.
